The Airbus A320 Type Rating course is designed to certify pilots to operate the Airbus A320 family of aircraft. This comprehensive program combines theoretical knowledge with practical training to ensure pilots are fully equipped to handle the complexities of this modern airliner. The course covers:
Intensive classroom sessions focusing on the A320's systems, flight deck operations, avionics, performance, and flight management. You'll gain in-depth knowledge of the aircraft's electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems, along with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and emergency protocols.
High-fidelity Full Flight Simulators (FFS) are used to replicate real-world flying conditions. Pilots will practice various scenarios, including normal, abnormal, and emergency operations, to ensure they are prepared for any situation.
Following simulator training, pilots will complete a minimum number of flight hours on an actual A320 under the supervision of a certified training captain. This phase helps transition skills from the simulator to live operations.
The course culminates in both theoretical and practical exams. Upon successful completion, pilots are awarded the Airbus A320 Type Rating, allowing them to fly this aircraft commercially.
A valid CPL is mandatory to enroll in the Type Rating course.
Must hold a current MEIR, demonstrating proficiency in flying multi-engine aircraft under instrument flight rules (IFR).
Pilots must have the minimum required flight hours as specified by their national aviation authority.
A valid Class 1 Medical Certificate is required, confirming the pilot's fitness to fly.
Previous experience on jet aircraft is beneficial, though not mandatory.
Must have a minimum ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 4.
Typically, the course spans 4 to 6 weeks, though the exact duration may vary depending on individual progress and prior experience.
